A new rear wheel.

I have decided to customize the back end of Black Betty over the winter. Our local Harley dealer offers free labor and tune-up this winter if we purchase a certain level of service.

I'm going to replace/chrome my swingarm, and change out my rear wheel.

At present I don't have a method to rotate the rear wheel during detailing. Like most guys I de-grease, move the bike, soap up, move the bike, apply Pig Snot, move the bike, etc.

I'm going to get a solid chrome wheel. I have one of those powerful air blowers to dry the bike, and with no nooks and crannies I think cleaning the bike will be easier--and better looking.

I have one concern. Since there are no spokes, struts or vents in such a wheel, does handling get squirrely in a stiff wind or in back-wash from a semi truck?

I can see where that might happen to a front wheel out in the open, but the rear of a bike is pretty closed in.

What is your opinion?
