Looks like Columbus will finally get a Casino

Penn National Gaming and the city of Columbus came to an agreement in Federal Court today. Penn National will annex to Columbus and Columbus will provide essential water and sewer services to the site. The city of Columbus will pay Penn National $15 million to help defray the clean up costs on the former site in the Arena District.
Good or bad, it's coming to Columbus.

So now you have someplace to go spend all your extra cash! They have one out at the reservation in Salamanca and it is amazing how many folks it attracts. Never had the urge to gamble. Learned early on in life that money is too hard to come by to throw it away on chance bets.

I'm sorry to hear that. I can't imagine that it will be good for the city in the long run.

And ...I'm with you Muley. I have found plenty of other more fun ways to give my money away.

Re: Looks like Columbus will finally get a Casino

Hopefully it triggers revitalization in the Westland area. Part of the agreement was for both entities, the Casino and the city, to pony up money each year for revitalization projects in the area. Lots of speculators have been snapping up real estate in the area hoping for this outcome.
It will help the city of Columbus in terms of income though

I may go once just to see it, but it's nothing I need to do on an ongoing basis.

I thought you mentioned the arena district in your first post, that area does not need it but you are right Westland could sure use a shot in the arm. I hope it works out for the better.

Yes the original location voted in was the Arena district. Then a new amendment was voted on to move it to the old Fisher Body/Delphi property across from Westland.
